Believe it or not there is no set time or age limit for when you can start applying for scholarships. But be aware that some scholarships do have
requirements that you need to meet. There are 2 reasons why I tell people all the time, the sooner you start your search the more beneficial it will be.
1) The sooner you register with scholarship searches, the quicker you will begin receiving information regarding scholarships that are available for you.
2) Once you get a scholarship it takes away some if not all of the financial stress on you and your family. Now you can focus on other things.

If you plan on playing college football you must be cleared with the NCAA Clearinghouse. This should be your #1 priority if you are going to be playing college football. The NCAA Clearinghouse is very important because it allows you to make sure that you are eligible to compete in sports on the collegiate level. There have been situations where athletes have been pulled from practice because they have not been cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse. This is why it is important to register and make sure that you are cleared before you start your collegiate career.
Many college football players that are on scholarship don't know that they can receive additional scholarship money and grants. With so many rules and regulations in the NCAA I can see why many scholarship players don't know this. Other means of getting scholarship and grant money include: pell grants, money based on the conference your team is in, and FAFSA. Those are the most popular types of additional scholarships and grants that athletes on scholarship can apply for in addition to their athletic scholarship. You can obtain more information from your Universities NCAA Compliance Office.
