Thinking about playing college football

If you are thinking about playing college football then it probably isn’t for you. You should know whether you want to play. That is something that you need to decide. It is not a thought. I can honestly say I respect players more when they stop playing because of a self realization. Usually being it is not for them or they just don’t have the desire to be so committed.

The Commitment

I’ll reiterate this again because some players are still emailing me pondering what they should do. About half of them just seem discouraged:

They think they aren’t big enough

They play for small schools and don’t think they will get exposure

I have said it in emails and in blogs size is not everything. I wasn’t “big enough” a university that won the conference championship turned me down for that. I still signed a full scholarship and ended up playing against that school. Anyhow I went to a small school my senior year we were 1-9 and I STILL SIGNED A FULL SCHOLARSHIP.

Attitude is Everything

Attitude is everything in college football. Attitude affects performace. Poor attitude equals poor performance. Poor performance on the feed affects your attitude off the field and leads to trouble and a decline in academic performance. When I speak to players over the phone I stress the fact that you have to enjoy what you are doing. Now don’t get me wrong because I’m not saying College Football is all smiles because it is not.

It doesn’t change

It is still the same formula to be successful in college football. You got to have “want to”- you have to want to win. Take advantage of your resources. RMCFE has a whole page loaded with scholarships. And the fact about scholarships is not a lot of people apply for them period. Then they email RMCFE or Call and say “I need help with a scholarship.” *We provide you with the opportunities, we can’t sit down and fill out scholarship applications for you. That’s where you have to do some work and it isn’t even hard. When I signed my scholarship I was so concerned about having a scholarship I was still applying for other scholarships.

If scholarships is a factor

The reason I mentioned scholarships in the previous few sentences above is because people really aren’t taking advantage of the opportunities. If you are thinking about playing college football but you are doing so just for a scholarship why not apply for a scholarship and take football out of the equation? If you want to play college football but don’t have a scholarship then it is a must for you to apply for scholarships… Take advantage of the opportunity it will make your college career so much simpler.

In Closing

In closing it bothers me that the staff at RMCFE receives emails requesting scholarship help from players who haven’t even bothered applying on our scholarship page. Also the players that have applied aren’t even following up to see what scholarships are available to them. Even J that I train at the gym he set up his scholarship profile and he never checked his email to see if any additional opportunities became available. Does this make sense? No it doesn’t. But on a more positive note just be sure that you want to play college football before you commit. Next blog will be about questions you should ask coaches when looking at schools. Until Next time….
