Importance of Questions

I see a problem and it is common amongst high school players. Some are scared to ask questions. I get phone calls from players all the time and I often find myself asking them more questions than they ask me . It is not a problem though, that is one of the main reasons RMCFE is in existence to show high school players what they need to do to be successful in college.

Be your own advocate

You can never ask too many questions. Coaches like when players ask questions because it shows the coaches what the player is concerned with. For example if you ask a coach: “Do you have a mandatory study hall for the team” the coaches will be impressed because that shows them that you are concerned with being successful off the field as well. This impacts the coaching staff and the College Football program because College Football Programs look very successful when they graduate a lot of their players. So don’t be afraid to ask questions. And as always you can ask me questions as well because what I usually do is just blog about them anyways so others will get answers to questions as well.

Statistics

This is a big one that many high school players don’t think about. You can ask questions that directly relate to statistics. Since statistics deal with numbers the coach may have to get back to you in a few days. But you can ask questions like:

What is the percentage of players that have graduated over the last 4 years?

What percentage of your players have a gpa higher than 2.0?

Questions about the sizes of the classes.

Questions about the academic staff that deals directly with athletes for example academic advisers.

My Alma Mata had mandatory meetings scheduled with academic advisers.

In Closing

Make sure you consider questions that your family has. Allow your families questions to be asked and answered as well. If your asking questions but not getting answers there may be something fishy going on. Keep in mind that your are in College and it is not just about football. If you want to play in the NFL thats fine but make sure you take care of your academic responsibilities on your road to the NFL. Be successful on and off the field. Well until next time…
