College Football Recruiting -Timing
Timing is everything during the college football recruiting process. The time that you do things can mean the distance between getting a scholarship and not getting a scholarship. Timing can also mean the difference between a coach finding you and a coach not finding you.
Getting a College Football Scholarship
Timing and a scholarship- Keep in mind that when dealing with college football their are roster limits. Take this scenario:
You are a high school senior and signing day has already passed. That means that there is a limited amount of scholarships available. You take your time getting your game film to coaches and the school that you want to attend just signed their last player.
That is an example of how timing has an impact on you getting a scholarship. If you missed the concept I’ll explain the bottom line is college football programs have limited scholarships every year some schools have 15 available and some programs have more.
You get one chance
Take the following scenario:
A College Football scout is at your game and you have a horrible game. Depending on demographics you might not get another scout at your game. I think Coach G said it best “You need to always be at your best”. It is true because you never know who is watching. If there is a scout at your game you need to be at your best so you get noticed. I’ve had games where I thought I played like crap and I found out from my game film I had 23 knockdowns.
Last thought about timing
Keep in mind during your college football recruiting process, it takes time. It takes time for coaches to receive your tape, even if you send it next day. Some cases the tape arrives in the campus mail system but it can take up to 2 weeks for your tape to get into the football office. Don’t get frustrated if you don’t hear from coach right away. Remember there are many college football prospects and it takes time to evaluate everyone.
In Closing
In closing timing is everything it can make or break your college football career. Also be sure to allow time for a College Football Coach to evaluate your game film. Always be sure to follow up with coaches that are evaluating you. Well until next time…
