College Football Recruiting Issues

There are a few major issues that you should keep in mind while your in your recruiting process. Of course you can surprise your peers and teachers by keeping your grades at above average or above their expectations. Some athletes that are being recruited forget their grades. They think they that they are all set once they give a commitment and they forget that they have to go to class and have to pass all of their classes. Another fact that you should consider whenever you are meeting with coaches from a particular school is your happiness. Are you truly going to be happy if you attend this school or is there another school that you would be happier playing college football at? Proximity. The distance between your future university and your home. Are you going to be a hometown hero or a small presence at a big College? Do you want your family to be able to conviently watch you play? Do you get homesick and need to go home alot? What does the school do for your academics? Do they provide additional help or dedicated tutors for the football team? Does the team seem like they have good comradery aside from just winning games? Do the coaches seem to get along well?
Consider this while being recruited
You should also consider the campus life. How is the campus life will you be allowed to stay focused are there plenty of distractions is your campus near a beach? Also consider the life outside of campus ie going to stores grocery stores malls. See if while on your visit you can see a grocery store or a mall. If you come from a big urban area and your looking at a small suburban school you want to know how the people are. Being far away from home around a stuffy uncomfortble envinronment won’t make your college football career to enjoyable. Also consider the practice schedule. I’ll honestly tell you I didn’t consider this and I went to school not knowing we had practice on Sundays the day after our games. Win or lose. It is important that you know the practice schedule especially if you are religious and need to attend church on Sunday. One more fact that many recruits don’t consider is transportation around campus. Thank goodness I brought my car with me as a freshman. During my visit they told us there was a shuttle that would bring us to the weight room. Lets just say that I’ve never seen a shuttle unless it was full of recruits…Probably telling them the same lame ass lie “we provide a shuttle for our players to get to the weight room”. Anyhow you need to consider if you need a car for transportation and also find out if you can even have a car on campus as a freshman.
In closing I just wanted to list some ideas that I thought were important to consider during your recruiting process. Also if you can’t tell from the shuttle bus story some coaches lie. They say what you want to hear to get you to come there. So “player beware” if its too good to be true then thats what it is. What they say in the hood now “It is what it is”. Holla at yo boy. 1
